Terms of Use
Effective date: 24 October 2026 · Surfping by Jiji Labs
The short version:
- You must be 16 or older. Under 18 needs a parent or guardian's agreement.
- Follow the Community Guidelines. Zero tolerance for abuse, including false SOS alerts.
- Surfping is not an emergency service. Nearby and SOS can fail. Do not rely on them alone.
- Delete your account any time in the app (Me › Delete account) or on our deletion page.
1. Agreement
By downloading, installing or using Surfping (“Surfping”, “the app” or “the service”), you agree to these Terms of Use, our Community Guidelines and our Privacy Policy. Surfping is provided by PT JIJI LABS DIGITAL, a company established in Indonesia (“we”, “us”). If you do not agree, do not use Surfping.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Surfping on Android devices that you own or control, as obtained from Google Play.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16 years old, or older if the law where you live requires a higher age. If you are under 18 (or under the age of majority where you live), you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms.
You create an account with an email address you control and a password, or with Continue with Google; keep your password secret, do not share confirmation codes with anyone, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account. We never ask for your password or a code. Keep your device secure. You are responsible for activity on your account. Your @handle and display name must not impersonate anyone or break the Community Guidelines.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to follow the Community Guidelines. In particular you will not harass or threaten people, share sexual content involving minors or intimate images without consent, spread scams or malware, impersonate others, send false or prank SOS alerts, attempt to disrupt or reverse engineer the service or the phone-to-phone network, or use Surfping for anything unlawful.
4. Nearby and SOS: please read
Nearby works between Android phones that have Surfping with Radar on. Nearby messages go over an encrypted link but are not end-to-end encrypted, and @handles in Nearby are not verified yet. An SOS is a message to your crew and needs internet.
Surfping is not an emergency service and is not a safety-critical system. Nearby depends on other Surfping phones being close, switched on, with the app open, charged and in range. SOS depends on your internet connection and on your crew seeing the message. Range, delivery, direction and position accuracy depend on terrain, buildings, weather, batteries, GPS reception and other conditions, and are not guaranteed. A message or SOS may be delayed, lost, duplicated or never received. SOS does not contact emergency services, rescue teams or us.
Do not rely on Surfping as your only way to call for help or to find your way. Carry other means of communication and navigation, tell someone your plans, and call your local emergency number whenever you can. Outdoor activities carry risks that you accept; you are responsible for your own safety and for the people in your care.
An SOS, and the position in it, can be read by the members of your crew. By sending an SOS you choose to share that information with them.
5. Your content
You keep the rights to what you send. You give us only the permission needed to run the service, for example to store and deliver encrypted messages. You are responsible for what you send. Private does not mean anything goes: the Community Guidelines apply inside encrypted chats too. Because messages are end-to-end encrypted, we act on reports, account information and the content a reporter chooses to share.
Waves are public inside the app. Waves, replies, Statuses and the photos you attach are not end-to-end encrypted and are visible to signed-in Surfping users. By posting one, you give PT JIJI LABS DIGITAL a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute it inside Surfping for as long as it is posted, and to keep it as long as needed to handle a report. You can delete a wave or reply at any time; a Status disappears after 24 hours. Post only what you have the right to share. We may remove a wave, reply, Status or profile photo that breaks these terms or the Community Guidelines, and suspend accounts that do.
6. The service
Surfping is provided free of charge. A Dove (a letter that opens at a time the sender chooses) depends on the clocks of the phones involved and may open a little early or late. We may change, suspend or stop features, and the online service depends on networks and providers outside our control. We work to keep it available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
7. Suspension and termination
We may warn, suspend or end accounts that break these terms or the Community Guidelines, and we may report serious abuse to the authorities. You can stop using Surfping and delete your account at any time in Me › Delete account. Questions: support@surfping.app.
8. Disclaimers
Surfping is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted or error-free operation, and the delivery, range or accuracy of any message, position or alert.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, PT JIJI LABS DIGITAL is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for injury, loss or damage arising from reliance on Nearby, SOS, distance or direction information, or from messages that are delayed, lost or not delivered. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your mandatory consumer rights where you live.
10. Google Play terms
If you got Surfping from Google Play, Google Play's Terms of Service also apply to your use of Google Play. These terms are between you and PT JIJI LABS DIGITAL, not Google; Google is not responsible for Surfping or its content and does not provide support for it.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Indonesia. We will try to resolve any concern informally. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to the competent courts of Indonesia, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you have under the laws of the country where you live.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the effective date and, for material changes, notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Surfping after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
